Arrow of Light

ARROW OF LIGHT SCOUT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Be active in your Arrow of Light den for at least six months since completing the fourth grade or at least six months since becoming ten years old.
  2. Complete each of the four required Adventures.
    • Building a Better World
    • Duty to God in Action
    • Outdoor Adventurer
    • Scouting Adventure
  3. In addition to the four required adventures listed above, complete at least one elective Adventure of your den's or family's choosing (for a total of at least five adventures).
  4. With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide.
  5. Earn the Cyber Chip award for your age. (The Cyber Chip portion of this requirement may be waived by your parent or guardian if you do not have access to the internet.)
  • For each adventure, the Arrow of Light Scout must complete the requirements as outlined in the Webelos Handbook. Requirement 7 of Bobcat and requirement 4 of Webelos and Arrow of Light are identical. If a Cub Scout earns his Bobcat rank during the same year that he begins working on his Webelos or Arrow of Light rank, he needs to complete the requirement only one time.

Like all other new Cub Scouts, an Arrow of Light Scout must first earn the Bobcat rank then go on to complete the requirements for the Arrow of Light rank and the many electives that are offered.

The requirements for Webelos and Arrow of Light may be worked on at the same time but the tenure requirements for each must be met and the awards must be earned and presented sequentially (if both are earned instead of just Webelos or just the Arrow of Light).

This is the highest rank & award in Cub Scouting is the Arrow of Light. It is one of the few Cub Scout badges that you can wear on your Boy Scout uniform. The Arrow of Light award is worn below the left pocket of the tan Boy Scout Uniform. You will work on outdoor skills, physically fitness, and learn more about citizenship and working with others. Upon completion of the requirements for Arrow of Light, you can bridge into a Boy Scout troop. Webelos Scouts that are working toward their Arrow of Light rank & award are commonly called Arrow of Light Scouts, similar to the younger ranks in Cub Scouting.
